Pirongia Clydesdales - The horses can be visited in nearby Pirongia village for educational talks and rides. Alternatively, the horses can come and visit your group at the lodge - for a small extra cost.

Horse Trekking - There are two horse trekking outfits situated around Pirongia Mountain, these are available for groups to enjoy the mountain views upon horseback.

Alexandra Redoubt - This is sited in Pirongia Village and is of interest to those seeking to combine the history of the area with a stay at the lodge.

Otorohanga Kiwi House - The Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park is a 30 minute drive away and is dedicated to the conservation of New Zealand's native wildlife through education, display and breeding programs. Kiwis and other native birds and reptiles are always on display. A special program is available for schools. Contact the Kiwi House administration for more details.

Waitomo Caves - These are a 45 minute drive away and can be used to explore the geological forces prominent in the area. There is also the famous 'Glow Worm' cave and Ruakauri Bush Walk at Waitomo. For the more adventurous there is always caving or black water rafting.
